And Sam Altman and others never said ml cannot achieve agi (the very articles you shared just mention continuing to scale llms, nothing about machine learning hitting a wall). This is the danger of these concepts going mainstream. Grifters with no understanding of the concepts add noise, making it impossible for the public to discern myth from reality.
